An online cybersecurity master鈥檚 degree focusing on threat mitigation, detection and defense has been launched by the Katz School of Science and Health. Applications for the program are now being accepted for the spring term, which starts on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021. Students will gain cybersecurity know-how in systems architecture, operating systems, applications, endpoints, securing data, networking, cloud security and software development. In addition, they will become certified as an information security manager (CISM), in risk and information systems control (CRISC) and as an ethical hacker (CEH), which are some of the most desired credentials available in the field of cybersecurity. After the program鈥檚 first course, students will also be prepared to sit for the exam certifying them to become information systems security professionals (CISSP). 鈥淲hen they graduate, they will have access to jobs at the biggest companies in the heart of New York City, the global epicenter for cybersecurity,鈥� said David Schwed, co-director with Lev Feldman of the master鈥檚 program. The program comprises 10 courses and can be completed in as few as 20 months. The program is delivered fully online, and students have the option of completing an internship under the supervision of a staff member at a company of their choice. Courses are taught by security leaders at top-20 global banks and corporations as well as former military intelligence officers. 鈥淥ur mission at Katz is not simply to train successful cybersecurity professionals,鈥� said Dr. Russo, 鈥渂ut to produce leaders who will thrive at major organizations and shape innovation in the field for years to come.鈥�
