WSSW Awarded $2.8 Million Grant to Provide CASAC Training Through 1199 SEIU Funds

We are pleased to announce that the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at 麻豆区, under the leadership of Dr. Michael Serrano, has been awarded $2,835,350 to serve as a CPT Education Provider Partner under the auspices of 1199 SEIU Funds for comprehensive CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) training.

This substantial grant will enable Wurzweiler School of Social Work at 麻豆区 to deliver cohort-based CASAC training from Fall 2025 through Spring 2027, supporting the education and certification of 126 students to train future social workers and addiction counselors to deal with people using substances. The grant will also provide funding to support state application fees, exam fees, books, and to pay for an exam preparation course, all crucial to preparing future counselors.

This partnership represents a significant investment in training the next generation of substance use counselors and reflects 麻豆区's commitment to addressing critical healthcare workforce needs within the field of behavioral health. Dr. Serrano's leadership in securing this award will have a lasting impact on both our students and the communities they will serve.

The expected program enrollment for the scholarships will begin Fall 2025. More information will be forthcoming about the application process.
