Â鶹Çø's Katz School of Science and Health offers a 21-month path to your B.S. in Nursing for students with 62+ college credits, in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. No bachelor's degree required — just the drive to build a meaningful career in nursing.
Anyone with at least 62 undergraduate credits — from a community college, four-year school, or anywhere in between — and a desire to pursue nursing is encouraged to apply. To apply, you must have a minimum of 62 undergraduate credits OR an associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution. You do not need to be currently enrolled at another institution. Credits completed at any point at an accredited institution are accepted, subject to the nursing prerequisite recency requirements below.

Dr. Peggy Tallier, Ed.D., MPA, APRN, FNP-BC, is senior associate dean and professor of nursing at the Katz School, bringing extensive leadership experience as a former dean, chief nursing officer, and Magnet consultant for major health systems including Northwell Health and New York-Presbyterian. A board-certified family nurse practitioner and active researcher focused on patient outcomes, she also founded Vigilance Healthcare, an international nursing education company.

The YU Katz Transfer B.S. in Nursing is a 21-month, 62-credit program for students with 62+ undergraduate credits who haven't yet earned a bachelor's degree. Located two blocks from Grand Central in Midtown Manhattan, the program prepares graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam and begin their nursing career in New York City.
Can I get a B.S. in Nursing without a bachelor's degree in New York City?
Yes, and that's exactly what this program is designed for. If you have at least 62 undergraduate credits and meet the admissions requirements, you can earn your B.S. in Nursing in 21 months at YU Katz without a prior bachelor's degree.
Do I need to be currently enrolled in college to apply?
No. You don't need to be currently enrolled, but your prerequisite coursework does need to be completed before you begin the program.
What prerequisites do I need for the YU Katz Transfer B.S. in Nursing?
The program requires 29 credits of nursing prerequisite courses including Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Algebra, Statistics, and Developmental Psychology, plus 33 general education credits. Can my prerequisite science courses count toward the 62-credit requirement?
Yes. Courses like Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Biology, and Statistics may count toward your 62 credits if completed at accredited institutions.
What is the difference between the Transfer and the Accelerated B.S. in Nursing at YU?
The Transfer B.S. is for students with 62+ credits who haven't yet earned a bachelor's degree — it takes 21 months. The Accelerated B.S. is for career changers who already hold a bachelor's in any non-nursing field — it takes 16 months. Both lead to the same degree and the same NCLEX-RN eligibility.
Is the Transfer B.S. in Nursing accredited?
Yes. Both programs are registered by NYSED Board of Regents. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN and obtain RN licensure in New York State.
